Posted — UpdatedHolmes said Monday night that serving Wake County was one of the best experiences of her life, and she was proud to be an advocate for children, child hunger and affordable housing, but not all of her goals have been accomplished.
“I believe I’m leaving the board in excellent hands so, I resign from the board,” she said at the meeting. “I just wanted to say thank you to staff and people who have supported me and helped the affordable housing effort move forward.”
Holmes, who was elected in 2014, said Monday night would be her last meeting, but she plans to work with remaining commissioners for a smooth transition.
Fellow commissioners Sig Hutchinson and Erv Portman said they did not know why Holmes resigned.
Holmes could not be reached for comment Monday night.
