Our Take

Smith is definitely returning, Singler not so sure

For some it might be hard to focus on anything 30 minutes after winning the National Championship. Duke junior Kyle Singler didn't really want to think about the future after his team's 61-59 win over Butler in Indianapolis on Monday night.

"I have no idea," Singler said.

But when the time is right Singler knows who he's going to seek for advice, "I'm just going to talk to coach and get his opinion and I'll talk to my family. I'm just going to let myself be open to what coach has to say, because he has my best interest, and it doesn't really matter."

Duke's other junior scorer had no problem thinking about the future. Nolan Smith has already been saying for weeks that he plans on coming back for his senior season, and appently the immediacy of winning the title didn't change that.

"I'm definitely not even considering going, unless someone said 'Nolan you're going to be the No. 1 pick,' and John Wall has that on lock," Smith told the N&O. "It could be something special. Back-to-back champs could be our future."

One junior has a decision to make, another junior is already beaming about the possibilities. What's ironic is that Smith might not be beaming that much if Singler bolts for the NBA.
