VA. — A Virginia family went for a drive on Sunday to get out of the house. When they did, they found a bag of nearly $1 million in cash lying in the road.

David and Emily Schantz thought they saw a bag of trash in the road. The Schantzes tossed the bags in the back of their pick-up truck and kept driving.

Only when they got home, did they realize what they found.

"Inside of the bag, there were plastic baggies and they were addressed with something that said 'cash vault,'" Schantz told WTVR.

The Caroline County Sheriffs Office would not say specifically if the Schantz family got to keep the money.
