VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A Virginia Beach Police officer was randomly attacked inside an Oceanfront coffee shop Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at Bad Ass Coffee in the 600 block of 18th Street around 7:15 a.m.

Police say they were notified of the incident when an employee of the coffee shop called 911 to report that a man was beating a uniformed officer.

That man has now been identified as 33-year old Antoine Omar Wynn. Wynn is charged with Felony Assault and Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct and Providing False Identity to a Law Enforcement Officer.

Witnesses said a Sergeant was inside the coffee shop ordering when Wynn aggressively approached him. The Sergeant asked Wynn to step outside due to the scene he was causing, and it was then that Wynn started attacking the Sergeant.

One employee jumped in to help the officer while another called 911. The employee, Jaclyn Krogh, spoke exclusively to News 3 and told us how she kicked the suspect to help get the officer free from the wrestling match.

Eventually, Wynn ran from the coffee shop and the Sergeant was able to get up, chase him and apprehend him.

Virginia Beach Police say the Sergeant suffered minor injuries during the altercation. He was treated at the scene.

Wynn is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
