Posted July 9, 2007

— The family of a slain pregnant woman will hold a vigil Monday night for her unborn child.

Jenna Nielsen, 22, was found stabbed to death on June 4 behind a Raleigh convenience store. Nielsen was eight months pregnant with her third son, whom she called Ethen.

Family and friends will honor the child with a candlelight ceremony, starting at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Bicentennial Mall across from the Legislative Building in downtown Raleigh.

The public is invited to attend.

I hope i don't sound insensitive, but I would not allow my wife to deliver newspaper's in the early hours of the mourning. I would work 24/7 before I would let my wife pregnant or not pregnant deliver newspapers. when a woaman is eight months pregnant she should rest a whole lot more.

i stand corrected, thanks, Isabella, Ethen's due date was Sunday.

FYI, i beleive Ethen's due date was Saturday, 07 July 2007. So this should be an extra special event for the poor families.

If I weren't at work, I'd attend, you can count me there in spirit.

Yes, Please sign the petition if you haven't already.

Ethen and Jenna deserve this vigil, and so much more. It's just a shame that NC is still in the dark ages legislatively. Ethen was due to be born yesterday. So sad. He would have lived had he miraculously survived the attack on his mother 3 weeks ago. A double murder took place that early morning. Please sign the petition, if you haven't already.

How come the media refers to the baby as an "unborn child" if it is wanted and a "fetus" if they want the mom to abort? You can't have it both ways. It is either a life or not. I vote for life!

Has nothing to do with their abortion law.

  • MR EVANS Jul 9, 2007

They will not change the law because there will be a conflict with the selfish women and their abortion law.

Maybe the later night Vigil so people that work could attend. Legislators should take the time and join the fellow voters and show support during non-office hours.

BTW I checked my E mail list I sent the petition to in NC and everyone signed!!! I was not sure if people outside NC could sign as well. Those that did Mr & Mrs "name" or two names on one line...do they get counted as 1 or 2 signed??? Just curious
