Authorities: 'Operation Carolina Shield' a success

In cooperation with U.S. marshals from the Eastern District of North Carolina and the State Department of Public Safety, deputies from Wake and Cumberland counties checked on more than 1,000 registered sex offenders this week to ensure that parolees were complying with the terms of their release.
