Victim in Durham shooting dies

A Durham man who was shot Monday night on Holloway Street has died, police said Thursday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man who was shot Monday night on Holloway Street has died, police said Thursday.

Rayshaun Cotton, 29, died Wednesday afternoon at Duke University Hospital. Cotton had been shot several times, and police found him in his car, which had crashed into a tree on Holloway Street near Guthrie Avenue.

Witnesses told police that Cotton's vehicle was being chased by another vehicle on Holloway Street when the shooting occurred. The second vehicle was described as a light-colored, box-style car similar to an Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Police said the second vehicle might have sustained damage during the incident.
