Vehicle hits, kills pedestrian on I-795

— A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 795 in Wayne County early Sunday.

State troopers said Fredrick Lamont Tarpaly, 39, of Goldsboro, was driving home from work when his vehicle struck Victor Ceja-Fuentes, 19, of Goldsboro, near the Pikeville Princeton Road exit around 4 a.m.

Troopers had not filed charges Sunday.

    I need some help in understanding this story. If the driver was coming from Rocky Mount...how in the world did he hit the pedestrian in the northbound lanes? He was heading southbound back to Goldsboro. Something doesn't add up in this story.
