— Smithfield police are looking for a work van they believe struck and killed a 50-year-old man early Saturday.

Jose Hernandez Galindo's body was found in a ditch along South Brightleaf Boulevard, near Rainbow Lane, around 9:50 a.m. Saturday. Police believe he was hit by a vehicle between 1 a.m. and 9:50 a.m.

Police are looking for a 1996-2002 Chevrolet Express or GMC Savannah van in a model range from 1500 to 3500. The van is missing its driver's side mirror and might have damage on the driver's side.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective C.M. Blinson at 919-989-1064 or Smithfield police at 919-934-2121. People who wish to remain anonymous can call the Smithfield Tip Line at 919-989-8835.

""Van sought in fatal Smithfield hit-and-run"

They would be better off looking for the driver of the van. I do not think the van did the hit and run all on it's own.

And yet the guns are blamed when they are the weapon used...

Thank you for reaffirming that guns don't kill people.

@Obamacare: yeah sure buddy, that's what it sounds like: stumbling in the road. Not one reference to alcohol in the story. Wait, you're "amaze-o the magnificent" from the state fair?

"missing its driver's-side mirror and might have damage on the driver's side"

how does THAT happen? Was the guy in the middle of the road? If on the side of the road the driver either swerved to hit him or what?
