DURHAM, N.C. — Twenty-four firefighters spent about two hours extinguishing a fire early Saturday at a vacant home in the 100 block of South Maple Street, Durham Fire Department officials said.

Crews responded to the home at about 6:15 a.m. When they arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters protected neighboring homes from the flames while fighting the fire, which destroyed the home.

An adjacent house, which was also unoccupied, had vinyl siding damage, officials said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
