Urban rescue ranch provides therapy camel

A 26-acre urban rescue ranch that provides Animal Assisted Therapy for the developmentally disabled, at-risk, seniors and veterans is welcoming a new addition Sunday evening.

OMAHA — A 26-acre urban rescue ranch that provides Animal Assisted Therapy for the developmentally disabled, at-risk, seniors and veterans is welcoming a new addition Sunday evening.

Nyles, an 8-month-old camel from Colorado, will join Zebediah and 100 other animals, including horses, donkeys, pigs, fowl, sheep, goats, alpacas, dogs, cats and cows, at Scatter Joy Acres.

Scatter Joy Acres is open as a petting zoo for the summer 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $5. The ranch is also available for private parties and picnics.
