Upcoming coupon swaps

Coupon swap in December 2012!

There are a number of blog members who swap coupons here in the Triangle area. This is the place to post your swap dates and locations each week! See below for details on how to host a swap and what to do if you are planning to attend a swap.

If there are any more June swaps scheduled, feel free to post them in the comments section below and I will add them to the main list. It helps if you can post your swap details more than a week before the swap date. Happy swapping!

Clayton Swap (40/42 area)

Date: June 11, 2013 (usually 2nd Tuesday of each month)

Time: 10:30 am

Location: Bojangles off I-40 Exit 312

Garner Coupon Swap at Library

Date: June 12 (usually 2nd Wednesday of each month)

Location: Southeastern Regional Library in Garner at 908 7th Ave, Garner, NC. For more information, call 662-2258.

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm

North Raleigh Coupon Swap

Date: Saturday June 15th

Time: 3:00 pm

Location: Moe's at Triangle Town Center

Durham Coupon Swap

Date: Thursday, June 20, 2013 (3rd Thursday of each month)

Time: 7:00-8:45 p.m.

Location: Durham County Library - Southwest Regional (3605 Shannon Road, Durham, North Carolina 27707, 919-560-8590)

There is a large meeting room reserved for this group, so feel free to invite your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, or anyone interested in exchanging coupons! If there is no notice posted in the library entrance area, inquire at the Information Desk when you arrive and they will let you know which meeting room we are in for the evening.

Please bring non-expired coupons you do not want or need in an envelope or baggie; it's best if they are already clipped.

You may also bring coupons that have already expired, again preferably already cut out of the inserts, in a separate bag or envelope so they may be donated to the military.

If you are attending a coupon swap for the first time, here are some swap basics:
* Bring your coupons already cut out in an envelope if at all possible. It really helps to move the swap along if folks are not waiting for you to go through your coupons and cut them out at the table.
* You don't need to sort them by product type unless you really want to
* The group usually sits in a circle and passes around the envelopes to the person to the right. Take the coupons you want out and put the rest back in to pass on to the next person.
* Once you get your envelope back, you know you have been through all the coupons.
* In really large groups, couponers often sit in groups of 5 to 8 people to swap

If you are hosting a swap and wish to include the information here, please post the following details:
* Date of swap
* Time of swap
* Location of swap including address
* Host contact info to RSVP or ask questions. An e-mail address is fine - I don't suggest including your phone number on a public board. You may want to create a new free e-mail just for swapping from somewhere like Yahoo or Gmail.
I also recommend the local swap group, Triangle Area Coupon Swap with additional coupon swap information.

If your swap is less than a week away and you would like it to appear on this swap post, please send me an e-mail to saving@smartspendingresources.com with the information to make sure I see it in time to post your swap. Thanks!

For me going to the N. Raleigh swap, that's my me time. I don't mind being there for a couple of hours, hanging out, getting coupons, & talking. I do it one day a month & I get to stock up my binder.

I used to go to the one at Triangle Town Center, but we moved last year to the other side of town. I tried to start one up at Brier Creek, but it was a very small crowd, so I didn't get the volume of coupons I was hoping for. It kind of fizzled out after 3 attempts. I started using a clipping service and found it's much more convenient, especially when pressed for time. I don't always have 2-3 hours on a Saturday or Sunday to go to a swap. A couple clicks of the button online, and the coupons I was looking for are at my door in 2 days.

I'm guessing other people have started to feel the same way?

And everyone is welcome to come to the N. Raleigh swap. I think this is our 3rd year of being a group. :)

Flying-if you can catch Bridget at Bath & Body Works, she can bring them to you. Email me: stephaniekenner@yahoo.com & I'll let you know what her schedule is this week.

DianeNC re cary swaps: When we had 4 in the Cary area, attendance was not great, so I don't see it improving now. Especially since it's summer and lots of kids are out of school and people are traveling. I think Faye is right, swaps have fallen out of favor. More people are using clipping services to get exactly what they want instead of hoping to find it at swaps.

Sounds like many of the the swaps are losing their appeal. I know that I am just too busy to make more than about 1 per year. I still plan on having the annual 40/42 swap around the holidays in early Dec. I'll post details including location and time as we get closer.

Steph - if you aren't going to the FV swap and don't know if anyone else, don't worry about posting it.

Steph - will be out of town this weekend (Father's Day), & can't make it to the swap...is there somewhere at Moe's to drop off my coupon stash? I'll see you at the July swap :)

  • stephkenner Jun 11, 2013

I'm debating on whether or not keep posting Fuquay's swap. I don't go any more so I don't know how many people are showing up each month. I've asked a couple of times & haven't gotten a response.

  • DianeNC Jun 11, 2013

vlynn - could we hold any of the Cary area swaps at the local libraries or other fast food places?

  • vlynn Jun 11, 2013

Starting next month, as far as I know, there will only be 3 swaps in the triangle area: garner library, durham library, and moe's at triangle town center. Oh, how the swaps have fallen!
