Upcoming coupon swaps

Coupon swap in December 2012!

There are a number of blog members who swap coupons here in the Triangle area. This is the place to post your swap dates and locations each week! See below for details on how to host a swap and what to do if you are planning to attend a swap.

If there are any more October swaps scheduled, feel free to post them in the comments section below and I will add them to the main list. It helps if you can post your swap details more than a week before the swap date. Happy swapping!

October 2013 Coupon Swaps

Chatham County Coupon Swap - new swap!

Date: October 5th

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: Calico Quilt Antiques - Bellevue Street, Goldston.

Contact Denise at if you have any questions. You can find us on Facebook Chatham County Area - Coupon Swap.

Garner/Cary Coupon Swap

Date: Wednesday, Oct 9th

Time: 1:00 pm

Location: Picnic tables in Carolina Pines Park ( From I-40, take Exit 297 off Lake Wheeler Rd.)

Durham Coupon Swap

Date: Thursday, October 17, 2013 (3rd Thursday of each month)

Time: 7:00-8:45 p.m.

Location: Durham County Library - Southwest Regional (3605 Shannon Road, Durham, North Carolina 27707, 919-560-8590)

There is a large meeting room reserved for this group, so feel free to invite your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, or anyone interested in exchanging coupons! If there is no notice posted in the library entrance area, inquire at the Information Desk when you arrive and they will let you know which meeting room we are in for the evening.

Please bring non-expired coupons you do not want or need in an envelope or baggie; it's best if they are already clipped.

You may also bring coupons that have already expired, again preferably already cut out of the inserts, in a separate bag or envelope so they may be donated to the military.

North Raleigh Coupon Swap

Date: Saturday, Oct. 26th

Time: 3:00 pm

Location: Moe's at Triangle Towne Center

If you are attending a coupon swap for the first time, here are some swap basics:
* Bring your coupons already cut out in an envelope if at all possible. It really helps to move the swap along if folks are not waiting for you to go through your coupons and cut them out at the table.
* You don't need to sort them by product type unless you really want to
* The group usually sits in a circle and passes around the envelopes to the person to the right. Take the coupons you want out and put the rest back in to pass on to the next person.
* Once you get your envelope back, you know you have been through all the coupons.
* In really large groups, couponers often sit in groups of 5 to 8 people to swap

If you are hosting a swap and wish to include the information here, please post the following details:
* Date of swap
* Time of swap
* Location of swap including address
* Host contact info to RSVP or ask questions. An e-mail address is fine - I don't suggest including your phone number on a public board. You may want to create a new free e-mail just for swapping from somewhere like Yahoo or Gmail.
I also recommend the local swap group, Triangle Area Coupon Swap with additional coupon swap information.

If your swap is less than a week away and you would like it to appear on this swap post, please send me an e-mail to with the information to make sure I see it in time to post your swap. Thanks!

Great swap at Carolina Pines Community Center! We love this location! We have a large room with plenty of seating. Lots of parking available, too. The Garner/Cary swap has found a new home AND it's in Raleigh :-) Maybe we'll have to call it the Southwest swap. This new location is 6 miles from the library in Garner and about 4 miles from the HT on Tryon Rd. So, it's kinda in between Cary & Garner :-) Our next swap will be here on November 13th at 1pm, as always the 2nd WED of the month. Hope to see everyone there.

Faye's right, the interest in more swaps has just not translated into actual attendance! When we had over 20 swaps a month, people just didn't show up. At the library in Garner, we had nighttime, weekend, and daytime swaps, but the only one that lasted was the daytime one. The same with McDonalds, they had multiple swaps, weekend and weekday, but attendance was very poor at all of them except one morning one and one afternoon one. I think people like the idea of a swap, but when it actually comes down to it, lots of family commitments happen in the evenings and weekends.

Thanks vlynn! I hope you have a good turnout.

Sorry Faye! Forgot to include address for the Cary/Garner swap. It's at the Carolina Pines Community Center, 2305 Lake Wheeler Rd, Raleigh NC 27603 Phone 919-831-6435 for directions. This is off I-40 at the Lake Wheeler Rd/Farmer's Mkt exit 297. You can also get there from US 70 and Tryon Rd since Lake Wheeler Rd crosses Tryon Rd at the Raleigh Oaks Shopping with the Food Lion there. The park is a mile or so down Lake Wheeler headed toward downtown, just before you get to the intersection with Sierra Drive.

You are more than welcome to pick a time that works best for you, post the swap info and see if anyone can make it. Many folks have swapped at fast food places before and they just buy a drink or something small so they aren't just using the space for free without buying anything. You don't have to book a special room or anything when you go to a fast food place.

Regarding interest - I have heard from many that they just don't have the time because of work and family commitments. That is why I can't make more than 1 or 2 per year.

Thanks, Faye, but a mid-week/mid-day swap wouldn't be an option for me. I was looking for something local that was either in the evening or on a weekend, like the one at the McDonald's in Raleigh before that one ended.

I'm surprised there's not more of an interest in swaps, but will be glad to see what I can find out on my end.

DianeNC - V started a new swap in the Cary/Garner area. The info is above. They were kicked out of the Garner library so that is not an option. There has not been a ton of interest in the swaps lately but if you really want to start another new swap, you can just post the details including time, location and date below.

I had previously inquired about whether there were no longer any swaps in the Cary/Raleigh/Apex area, but didn't see any response. I had mentioned about there being rooms at the libraries in the area that are usually offered to these types of events. If you'd like, I'll be glad to find out more about that as an option, vlynn. (I'm assuming we need omething free, correct?) Are there any other places you'd like me to check out in this area? Feel free to e-mail me directly at if that's easier.

Thanks for the update vlynn. Do you have an address or additional directions for folks who do not have any idea where this is?

  • vlynn Oct 8, 2013

Update on Garner/Cary coupon swap, we will be inside the Carolina Pines Community Center not outside at the picnic tables. We have a meeting room on a trial basis. If this works out the coupon swap that was formally located at the library in Garner will be held from now on at the Carolina Pines Community Center in Raleigh. We'll see how it goes.
