CASS/ CLAY COUNTY, ND — The Fargodome is full of school supplies, from notebooks to glue and scissors, ready to stuff backpacks for students in need ahead of the new school year.

Volunteers are filling backpacks with those supplies for students in need.

United Way says they still need between 500-800 backpacks to provide students with everything they need for the firsty day of school. But it's more than just supplies they're giving them.

"The main reason the United Way does the school supply drive, it's not really about the supplies, it's about giving kids self confidence. We talk to counselors teachers and principals that say that kids that come into school that first day confident and feeling on par with the rest of their peers, they're going to do better the entire school year and that impacts all of us as a community," says Kristina Hein, United Way Marketing & Brand Management Director.

You can still drop donations off at the Fargodome Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or donate online to the United Way.

The first chance to pick up the school supplies is coming this weekend.

In order to get them, your kids must be enrolled in K-12 schools in Cass County in North Dakota or Clay County in Minnesota.

United Way of Cass-Clay will be passing out supplies Saturday, August 5 from 8-11:30 in the morning at the Fargodome.

The next chance to get your kids supplies is Tuesday, August 8th.

That's from 4-7 in the evening.

Students and families must have a form of I.D. for each child and a completed registration form. The form can be found at the Fargodome doors, and we've also got a link to the form attached to this story.
