It's nice to add another place catering to families out there with special needs.

I've written about the movie theater at The Streets at Southpoint and the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences offering low-sensory programs for those with sensory disorders. Add United Skates of America to the list (side note: love the name of this place).

Starting Sunday, sensory friendly roller skating will be held on the first Sunday of each month. One exception is November when it will be held on the second Sunday.

There will be no loud music or flashing lights during the events. They are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Aug. 4, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 10 and Dec. 1.

Admission is $4. Skate rental is $3. Non-skating adults are free. United Skates is on Trawick Road in Raleigh. Click here for more about the rink where you'll find lots of other special events and programs.
If you know of other low-sensory offerings for kids and families, please share in the comments below or click here to email me the information.
