Union County mother charged with abducting her child

— A Union County mother accused of abducting her infant daughter was arrested Saturday night.

An Amber Alert was issued for 5-month-old Ashuari Nyashia Rushing, of Marshville, at midnight Friday and canceled around 2 a.m. Saturday, when authorities found the child unharmed.

Melissa Ann Rushing, 23, was still at large when Ashuari was found.

She was arrested around 10 p.m. Saturday at a house on Forest Lane in Monroe and charged with abduction of children. She is currently being held in the Union County Jail.

    Some how my first post did not make it on here. it is going to be interesting to see how this stroy plays out. I am kind of curious about this charge because the child is only 5 months old. Why was she charged in the first place?
