RAEFORD, N.C. — Unilever United States Inc. plans to expand its deodorant plant in Hoke County, adding 21 jobs over the next three years, officials said Thursday.

The company will invest $29.9 million in the Raeford plant, which is the largest producer of stick antiperspirant and deodorant in the world.

The average annual salary for the new jobs will be $32,965, plus benefits. The Hoke County average annual wage is $24,648.

Unilever qualified for a $63,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund to assist with the expansion. Companies receive grant money only after meeting job and investment targets.
