— Two Chapel Hill police officers suffered minor injuries Tuesday night while breaking up a large fight in the 100 block of East Franklin Street near the Varsity Theater.

Officers arrested University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student Corey D. Mock, who is on the school's wrestling team, which is coached by his father. Officers said Mock ran from them after they saw him fighting.

He is charged with simple affray, as well as resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Police did not say how the two officers were injured. Their names were not released. No other information was available.

Now, this headline makes one think the wrestler hurt the officers, but that isn't what was said inthe story.

Mr. French, what are these shenanigans you are speaking of? Why do you think an independent investigation is necessary? Do you think the school is corrupt? Athletic dept corrupt? Comon. Don't you think that each of these cases are not related to each other AND would thus need for the school board to issue harsh[er] disciplinary actions for those accused of any wrongdoing?

The entire school is not the issue. It is not the school's responsibility to monitor each student; it is the responsibility of each student to honor school codes as well as not breaking any law.

"What will it take for a GROWN-UP to step up to the plate and call for an independent investigation into all the problems in that baby blue cesspool of vice and corruption?"

    LOL..vice and corruption, huh?

Sounds like you are one grownup short yourself.

"What will it take for a GROWN-UP to step up to the plate and call for an independent investigation into all the problems in that baby blue cesspool of vice and corruption? Mr. French"

Alright, alright, you don't have to twist my arm. I'll do it!

My lord, this all stopped being funny last week with the last three arrests over there.

When will all these shenanigans in the UNC athletic department end? Last week it was cocaine. This week a brawl - involving a member of the wrestling team whose father is a COACH.

What will it take for a GROWN-UP to step up to the plate and call for an independent investigation into all the problems in that baby blue cesspool of vice and corruption?

There was a large fight, but somehow only 1 person gets arrested? What constitutes "large"? Dozens, scores, hundreds? Was it a fight between some wrestlers & frat boys?

It does make me wonder what exactly precipitated the fight, when was the fight, and in front of the Varsity? Maybe the line to get Gone With the Wind tickets was just enough to push someone over the edge.

Unless this is somehow more than just a simple college bar brawl, I don't see why any serious charges should be filed.
