UNC-TV lines up Guest Star Day at N.C. State Fair

Super Why, Daniel Tiger, Read-a-roo and more will stop by the popular UNC-TV tent this Saturday.

It's time! The N.C. State Fair opens Thursday, bringing rides, games, animals, competition and just about all the fried food you'd ever care to eat.

I'll have my usual family-friendly guide on the site on Tuesday night. So stay tuned. I did want to share the details on the popular UNC-TV and Marbles Kids Museum tent, which offers free and educational activities for kids through the run of the fair. The tent sits next to Dorton Arena. I find that it's a nice, fun, low-key break from the midway.

In addition to activities offered inside the tent, Read-a-roo also will offer surprise storytimes on weekends and weekdays. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, PBS Kids show mascots will be on hand to meet and greet fans during Guest Star Day.

Here's the schedule for Saturday, Oct. 17:

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Super Why and Princess Presto from Super Why!
10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Eagle from Space Racers
11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood
11:30 a.m. to noon: Read-a-roo
Noon to 12:30 p.m.: Super Why and Princess Presto from Super Why!
12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Eagle from Space Racers
1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood
1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Read-a-roo
2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Super Why and Princess Presto from Super Why!
2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

This year, UNC-TV also will have a special Bob the Builder Show day on Oct. 24 with appearances from Bob the Builder, Clifford, Curious George and Read-a-roo. Marbles also plans some science activities that day. I'll have details next week.
