Ah, I didn't even think about the possibility that it could be a 17-year old's picture. If that's the case, this is blown out of proportion.

I suppose we will have to wait and see.

"I would hope they are not wasting US Marshall time on pictures of his girlfriend."

You would hope, but it certainly happens nowadays. It is a federal crime to possess or transmit pictures of a minor. In NC, it would be legal for the 19 year old to actually have sex with the 17 year old, but if they took pictures, it would be a felony. Heck, they are even prosecuting some high school kids for sexting.

Re underage drinking - I sure hope they don't refuse to admit kids who have been caught drinking. I don't know many people who waited until 21 to have their first sip of beer. It doesn't make sense to deny a college education for that kind of thing.

Yes the high standards at UNC are great. A boy from a school in Raleigh was admitted to UNC after being thrown out of private school for cheating twice and underage drinking. The wonderful admissions folks at UNC said they were unaware of his being booted or any problems. Apparently the kid is a liar too.

When the feds are involved, it is usually an internet thing.

People definitely need to withhold judgement until the facts come out. As a college freshman, he's probably 19. The "child" exploitation charges could be about something awful, or it could be about naked pictures of his 17 year old girlfriend.

His arrest photo is under the Durham County arrests, listed as arrested by US Marshalls. I wonder where he was actually arrested, since UNC is in Orange County. A google search of his name indicates he was quite a basketball star last year in Winston-Salem. Sounds like he really took a turn
