Chapel Hill, N.C. — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will sound its emergency siren on Tuesday as part of Alert Carolina, a campus-wide safety awareness campaign.
The siren will be activated between noon and 1 p.m., administrators said. The system has an alert tone along with a brief public address message. A different siren tone and voice message will signal the end of the test.
Residents on or near campus may hear the siren.
