CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The governing body of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's fraternity system is investigating reports of hazing.

Aaron Bachenheimer, director of fraternity and sorority life at UNC-Chapel Hill, said Friday that the UNC Interfraternity Council has received nine complaints of hazing at various times within the past week.

He added that nine is a high number for the council to be investigating at one given time and that, usually, it gets about that many over the course of a year.

He would not elaborate on the allegations or say which fraternities might have been implicated.

Twenty-two fraternities at UNC-Chapel Hill fall under the Interfraternity Council.
