— An Uber driver in Raleigh made a shocking discovery early Thursday morning while on the way to pick up a customer.

Matt Duncan said he was driving in the Five Points area at about 3 a.m. when he spotted a toddler in the middle of Cowper Drive.

"I pulled up and he was just kind of standing there," Duncan said. "I didn't know what else to do other than to stop and figure out what was going on."

Duncan said he stayed with the boy and immediately called 911 when he did not see any adults around. Duncan said he kept the child company until police arrived, and in the short time he noticed the toddler was very smart.

"Pretty strong too because the car door was pretty heavy and he was just opening it and closing it," Duncan said.

The boy's father did not want to speak to WRAL News, but was very happy his child was found safe.

According to police, no charges will be filed.

What a nightmare for those parents, some kids figure things out really quickly. My 2 year old has figured out how to knock over his baby gate and how to pull the doorknob protectors apart. So far, he hasn't figured a way around the deadbolt cover.... I'm glad this child was found and kept safe.

I did the same thing when I was a toddler, during the daylight hours. Though I had no memory of it I was reminded/chastised for it over the years by my family. However I *recommend* that treatment for this little dude, because I am probably one of the most careful, observant drivers on the road. ;-)

To clarify why HE was out there so every nut on comments would not immediately ask the same question

Probably because the guy was working and on his way to pick up a customer, so it's relevant to the story. If it were a taxi driver, they would have stated that a taxi driver found the child, not just "a person".

How is it relevant that this was an Uber driver? Is Uber paying the media to publish feel good stories about their company?
