RALEIGH, N.C. — An Uber driver in Raleigh made a shocking discovery early Thursday morning while on the way to pick up a customer.

Matt Duncan said he was driving in the Five Points area at about 3 a.m. when he spotted a toddler in the middle of Cowper Drive.

"I pulled up and he was just kind of standing there," Duncan said. "I didn't know what else to do other than to stop and figure out what was going on."

Duncan said he stayed with the boy and immediately called 911 when he did not see any adults around. Duncan said he kept the child company until police arrived, and in the short time he noticed the toddler was very smart.

"Pretty strong too because the car door was pretty heavy and he was just opening it and closing it," Duncan said.

The boy's father did not want to speak to WRAL News, but was very happy his child was found safe.

According to police, no charges will be filed.
