CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A newspaper delivery driver was cited for careless and reckless driving Sunday after crashing a U-Haul truck into a rental house.

Richard Hallett Ray, 33, lost control on North Roberson Street in Chapel Hill just before 8 a.m., police Lt. Chuck Quinlan said.

Ray was delivering newspapers for the The News & Observer when his truck wrecked, Quinlan said. The rainy weather may have been a contributing factor, police said.

Ray suffered scrapes and a passenger, Larry Johnson Edwards, 59, had a broken leg, Quinlan said. The men were transported to UNC Hospitals for treatment.
