RALEIGH, N.C. — Acclaimed actor, producer and director Tyler Perry will headline the 2014 Women's Empowerment Expo and Conference at PNC Arena on March 15, the venue announced Monday.

The annual conference, presented by Radio One, aims to "enhance the lives of African-American women by addressing issues that specifically impact their health, hearts and pocketbooks." The one day event features seminars, workshops, shopping and demonstrations.

After being born into poverty and surviving abuse, Perry has emerged into a media powerhouse. From his popular Madea films to TV hits like "House of Payne," "Meet the Browns" and "For Better or Worse," Perry has made a name for himself in the world of comedy and drama.

“We are honored to have media mogul Tyler Perry join us this year. He is the personification of empowerment and inspiration,” Radio One Regional Vice President Gary A. Weiss said in a press release. “We have been blessed to have so many people of influence join us in our mission to 'give back' through sharing and communicating and look forward to hearing Mr. Perry’s story.”

Previous keynote speakers at the event have included Queen Latifah, Angela Basset and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders.

The expo is expected to attract as many as 18,000 people.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Prices range from $50 to nearly $100 a ticket.
