Two UNC dorm rooms burglarized

Posted August 21, 2014

— Campus police said Thursday that they are investigating two burglaries in the Ehringhaus Residence Hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Residents on different floors of the dormitory reported that someone entered their rooms early Wednesday while they slept and took cash from their wallets, police said.

Police issued a campus security alert Thursday.

North Carolina State University police issued a similar alert last weekend when students reported wallets stolen from dorm rooms on the Raleigh campus.

Anyone with information about the UNC-Chapel Hill break-ins is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

Then, you don't understand kids. :-)

The only few times that we locked our dorm doors at night was to prevent shaving cream/cold water retribution for something we did previously. Otherwise, it's a family atmosphere and it's nearly the same reason that you don't lock your bedroom door at your home at night.

Crime has always occurred. Now-a-days, it's just reported and disseminated more quickly & thoroughly. They didn't even have the internet when I was in college...so back then, I would never have known about this theft. Today...I know within hours...or minutes.
