FAIRMONT, N.C. — Two teenagers were killed Monday night when the car they were riding in went off the road and struck a tree south of Fairmont, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Authorities confirmed that a Ford Thunderbird was headed east on NC 41 when it went off the right side of the road, spun and made impact with a tree, killing Tyreke Addison and Nokolma Hunt, both 18.

Addison and Hunt were both recent graduates of Fairmont High School and both played on the football team.

The driver, DyMaggio Gilchrist, 18, was also a recent Fairmont graduate and former football player. His condition was not released.

Authorities say that neither speed nor alcohol were a factor in the single-car accident.

Two other passengers in the vehicle were injured. They were identified as Devont’e Govan, 17, and Darius McCallum, 18.
