Laurinburg, N.C. — A university in Laurinburg says it is cooperating with local police after reports that a student showed up at a local hospital reporting she had been raped.
Police said Monday that they were called on the morning of Aug. 30 to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where the 18-year-old victim, a student at St. Andrews University, said two men raped her in one of their dorm rooms following a social gathering.
Jemson Villard, 21, of Salisbury, Md., and Janicento Williamson, 20, of Rocky Mount, also students, were arrested Thursday on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual offense.
They were out of jail Monday on $30,000 secured bonds.
Saint Andrews spokeswoman Melissa Hopkins said both Villard and Williamson have been suspended and removed from their dorms.
