Two sought in slaying, arson

Police were searching Thursday for two men charged in the death last month of a teen whose body was found in a burning house.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police were searching Thursday for two men charged in the death last month of a teen whose body was found in a burning house.

Firefighters found the body of Chavalis Boyd, 17, inside 7201 Silver Leaf Road on Sept. 4 while putting out a fire at the residence. An autopsy determined that he had been shot and was dead before the fire started.

First-degree murder warrants have been issued for Nathan Jones, 32, of 1913-D Tischer Road in Raleigh, and Brian Carney, 20, of 237 S. Winstead Ave. in Rocky Mount. Police said they might be driving a white GMC Yukon with North Carolina tag YXA-1891.

Police also charged Quantisha Lushun Moss, 21, of Kenly, an an accessory after the fact of murder. Moss was being held Thursday in the Nash County Jail under a $40,000 bond.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
