Two sought in robbery near Duke

— Police are searching for two people wanted in connection with a robbery near Duke University's campus.

Three female suspects were arrested shortly after the robbery 10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Anderson and Lewis streets, but two male assailants fled, Duke police said.

Investigators are looking for a black heavyset male with a dark complexion, who is 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black baggy T-shirt, blue jeans and a gold cap. The second assailant was described as a heavyset male with a dark complexion, who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and was last seen wearing gray and white sweats.

Three female suspects – Sherika Burnette, 19, Zecora Hajambo, 17, and a 13-year-old juvenile, were arrested shortly after the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Duke University Police Department at 919-684-6424 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

    This did not happen "near" Duke's campus as the headline suggests - it happened ON Duke's campus at the entrance of the Sarah P. Duke Garden. I guess it's bad for Durham's image to acknowledge that Durham criminals prey on Duke students.

    Actually - one should ask why so little information about the case is being presented by the news media. Does it bring up uncomfortable information about the state of the judicial, legal and political situation in Durham? This information was posted yesterday on some blogs.
