didisaythat, good question...How DO we prevent someone from stealing? We just need to try to find the root causes of crime. :-) Clearly jail is not a deterent for some and, besides, wouldn’t we all be better off if we could stop crime instead of just punishing people after the fact?

lineOfDuty, nice catch! This is exactly the crime-indicator that I’m talking about. Parents are a huge reason that we have criminals. So, we should look into why people continue to have children when they don’t want to take care of kids, can’t affort to take care of kids, just never wanted kids in the first place, etc.

Yes, I do think some parents should be in jail, but does this address the root cause? The question seems to be...How can we help parents (or people who don’t want to be parents) rear kids so they aren’t criminals? Society spends $21,000+ per year on an inmate, but what does some therapy, birth control, basketball camp, etc. cost us? And what’s a less violent society worth

Praying for this guy, but walking Kent Road at night time is definitely not smart.

    God bless.

Lead by Example, "...and stop perverting the "Bill of Rights" into a get-out-of-jail free card for those who are GUILTY...." It is you that is perverting the Bill of Rights; it is not up to you to decide who is or isn't guilty. Where in the Bill of Rights is there a disclaimer that due process should only exist when people like you think that it should?

If you read my entire post, those two organizations are a part of the larger problem. In this particular story they isn't any known evidence that they are involved in this crime.

I cited these organizations b/c they are constantly lobbying politicians to enact legislation that assists criminals; that is an undeniable fact.

Ultimately those who commit a violent crime are the ones to be held accountable and deserve years, if not decades, in prison. However, we as a society must stop making excuses for violent criminals, and stop perverting the "Bill of Rights" into a get-out-of-jail free card for those who are GUILTY. The amendments to the U.S. constitution exist to make sure that the innocent are not imprisoned, not to protect the guilty.

The NAACP and ACLU may've had good origins, but they evolved into groups that are left wing fanatics.

The judicial system doesn't want to increase the burden of the over populated prison system so they let thugs walk. I say it is time to outsource prisons the same as we do our technology and manufacturing. I'm sure there a plenty of countries that would house our prisoners a lot cheaper than we do.

hereandnow99 -- people commit crimes because they never truely learned what is right and what is wrong by the time they were age-6. This is acommon for almost all criminals. So, whose responsible for teaching rignt and wrong, "THEIR PARENTS!!!!"

So, maybe when someone commits a crime, we might also want to throw their parents in Jail too??

Some crooks robbed and shot some poor dude whose only "crime" was being out in public at 2 a.m. didisaythat, how can leadbyexample be "exactly right" when he reflexively blames a robbery and felonious assault with a deadly weapon on NAACP and ACLU? The ACLU is about defending and preserving the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. The NAACP seeks to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. Whether you like them or not, exactly how were these two institutions involved in this crime?
