SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A 52-year-old Linden man has been charged after authorities say he shot two women with a BB gun during a robbery at a Spring Lake convenience store Friday night.

Jeffrey Elliott, of 68 Duckbill Lane, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, common law robbery, assault and battery and assault on a female.

Cumberland County investigators said Elliott was armed with a BB gun when he went into a Kangaroo convenience store on Old Wilmington Highway late Friday. He demanded $50 from the clerk and shot the cashier at the store four times, authorities said.

Elliott then stole $4 from a customer inside the store. When the customer followed him outside, Elliott shot her twice, authorities said.

Both women suffered minor injuries from the impact of the steel pellets.

Elliott was arrested by Harnett County Sheriff's Office officials after his vehicle broke down. He was in the Cumberland County jail Saturday being held on a $15,000 bond.
