Two shot in Fayetteville convenience store robbery

Fayetteville, N.C. — Two employees were shot Monday evening during an armed robbery at a Fayetteville convenience store, police said.

Police say two gunmen wearing masks stormed into the Quick Stop, at 502 Grove St., around 7 p.m. and demanded cash before opening fire.

Witnesses said the robbery lasted less than three minutes but that the robbers began shooting almost immediately upon entering the store.

Two customers, who were inside the store at the time, hid from the gunmen, police said.

"There were individuals in the business. They hid behind display cases (and) some machinery in there," said Sgt. Steven Bates. "They were able to provide a description and a sequence of events of what happened."

Investigators are looking at store surveillance video to try to identify the suspects, as well as to determine whether more suspects were waiting outside in a getaway car.

The two victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Their names and conditions were not released.

The robbery and shooting remain under investigation.

The only people that benefit from unarmed citizens are the criminals. As, this increases their chance for continued assaults on innocent citizens, unscathed. Even if the victims escape with no physical injury, the mental injuries will last some time. That feeling of being "safe" is taken away. Of course in this instance, the citizens were lucky that the UNPROVOKED gunshots were not fatal. Will you bet your life on "luck?" If you are unarmed, then you are at the mercy of the assailant. You can do nothing and still be killed. The criminals prey on the fact that not many people are armed and able to defend themselves. The criminals will be armed regardless of laws. So, imagine if most LAW-ABIDING citizens were armed. Sure, it would be messy for a while as the criminals were gunned down one after another. Once that gene pool gets narrowed down, those of us that work and know what sacrifice is, can be return to some semblance of being safe in our homes and out in public.

That is so funny, i'm not going to defend myself because crimminals might start shooting first, lol Just like I said before, Liberals want to put the blame on everyone but the individual. When will people take responsibility for their own actions. I guess this won't happen for another 4 years.

They did shoot first or did you not read the article. They will do this again. These guys are no better than wild, rabid animals. Need to be put down and don't deserve to be walking the earth. Yes, it would have helped the next store clerks that these guys bust in on and shoot up.....wouldn't happen because they would be gone!
