Two overdose deaths in Buckhead from possible fentanyl
Posted June 12
ATLANTA, GA — Two people are dead after what police believe are overdoses in Atlanta, Friday.
In the first incident occurred at the Post Chastain Apartment Homes off Roswell Road in Atlanta.
Police were originally called there to conduct a welfare check.
When they arrived, they found a man inside an apartment who appeared to have overdosed on what could be fentanyl.
The man's name was not immediately provided by police.
Police took extra precautions to protect themselves from the potentially dangerous substance in light of recent events in middle Georgia where mass overdoses have occurred this week.
The police spokesperson said a powdery substance was found at the scene, and some units had to be evacuated to ensure everyone was safe.
The cause of death will ultimately be determined by the medical examiner, according to authorities.
In the same afternoon, Atlanta Police said a second man in his 30's was found dead due to a possible overdose elsewhere in Buckhead.
No additional information was provided about the second incident.
