DURHAM, N.C. — The American Tobacco Campus will soon be home to two new restaurants and a new spa and salon.
Wedgie's, which has its flagship location in Southern Pines, will move into the ground floor of the Diamond View III building. Founded by a former golf pro, this sandwich shop uses pizza crust for its bread. This will be its second location. The restaurant is targeting a December opening date.
Maybelle's, a barbecue and biscuit concept from the team behind Tyler's Taproom, is moving into the Crowe Building's lobby. The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options including scratch-made biscuits, eastern North Carolina pulled pork, ribs, briskets and side items. Maybelle's will also be serving up adult and alcohol-free milkshakes, southern-style cakes and pies. Look for this shop to open in early December.

"Maybelle’s is the culmination of all of the comfort foods I loved as a kid growing up in the south like country ham biscuits, barbecue, buttermilk biscuits, chocolate chess and lemon chess pies. I decided to stick them all under one roof," owner Tyler Huntington said.

The Bella Trio Spa and Salon will be opening adjacent to the Aloft Durham Hotel as early as March next year. Launched by a former Durham Public School teacher, Bella Trio offers beauty, styling and spa services. Bella Trio has two other Durham locations.

"These three new spots enhance our campus not only as a vibrant place to live and work, but a destination for folks from around the Triangle,” said Michael Goodmon, vice president of real estate for Capitol Broadcasting Company. “The goal of the American Tobacco Campus has always been to create one of the most exciting mixed use neighborhoods in the country, situated in one of America’s most dynamic downtowns, in the heart of an exceptional region. Now, from breakfast through dinner, from work meetings to Broadway shows, we offer unique options.”

Capitol Broadcasting Company owns American Tobacco Campus as well as WRAL.
