Two more charged in Durham shooting

Durham, N.C. — Durham police arrested two additional suspects this week in the shooting of an 18-year-old man at a party last month.
Torico Antonio Edwards Jr. and Darren Devon Taylor Jr. were each charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in the Aug. 23 shooting in front of an apartment on South Roxboro Street.
The victim, whose name was not released, was treated at a local hospital.
Edwards, 19, of Capps Street, was arrested Friday near the intersection of South Alston Avenue and Cecil Street, police said. He faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Taylor, 21, of Rowena Avenue, was arrested Saturday and jailed under a $750,000 bond. He faces an additional charge of simple assault.
A third suspect, 17-year-old Derek Antonio Huggins, was already in custody. Huggins, of Moline Street, faces assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and simple assault charges and was held in the Durham County Jail under a $575,000 bond.
Police have not offered a motive for the shooting.
