— Rocky Mount police released a surveillance image Tuesday of two men who might have information about a mall shooting that injured a 13-year-old boy.

Mall security called 911 around 7:15 p.m. Saturday to report gunfire inside Golden East Crossing Mall. Witnesses said they heard about 10 shots.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Police believe the men, who were captured on surveillance video at Body Central Clothing Store in the mall, might be witnesses to the shooting. They both appear to be wearing white hooded sweatshirts and baseball caps.

Anyone who recognizes the men or has any other information is asked to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 252-977-1111.

what good is that pic of the cop car? Is that the ONLY pic they have of the "potential witnesses"? Good luck with that one.

The malls are no more dangerous than the local Wal-Mart parking lot. Violence happens everywhere from a McDonalds to the workplace.

So much for the new leadership in the police dept. making a difference.

@flyguync - While I completely agree with concealed weapons and the right to bear arms, nearly all shopping centers and nearly all malls have it posted that they do not allow concealed weapons on their premises. I agree with your statement but just a reminder that many shops don't allow it anyway.

Up in Dutchess County New York, the malls decided years ago to have people under the age of 18 to be chaperoned to curb the violence and vandalism that was occurring. The adults felt safer and the kids, most of whom did not have jobs or money to purchase at the mall, either had to go elsewhere or went with their parents.

How would it be possible to recognize the people when the images are so completely distorted? African Americans are the predominant race in Rocky Mount so to recognize to black males wearing jeans and white sweatshirts would be nearly impossible when one cannot actually see the faces in the images provided.

So you would condone stopping people that are lawfully carrying a firearm in the mall? How are we supposed to protect ourselves from these criminals? Hopefully next time these geniuses try their little shooting spree, a concealed carry permittee or off-duty policeman will be there to cut it short.
