— The Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society and Granville County Spare Virtual Shelter are offering a $2,000 reward to catch two men who were seen dumping the bodies of three young pit bull terriers on a rural road in the county Friday.

A Ruin Creek volunteer witnessed the men discarding some items on Gray Rock Road and went to investigate, according to the group. The volunteer found the dogs' bodies and contacted the Granville County Sheriff's Department.

The men were driving a black or blue older model Mercedes with dark tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 919-693-3213.

I think that while the felony exists, more need to be prosecuted for cruelty and not let off with a slap on the wrist. Many cruelty cases end up as misdemeanors. Animal cruelty is a "gateway crime" - usually you can find other bad things going on - esp with dogfighting. For juveniles - it's a HUGE red flag about future tendencies to be directed towards humans. That's what I would mean by "do more"...

And what MORE would you have them do? Animal cruelty is already a felony, as is c*ck fighting, dog fighting, etc.

I'll just be blunt in saying I'm a but more concerned about the senseless murders of humans around here. Shooting people in cars or on sidewalks, in their homes, etc. Put your energy there.

Good, decent and caring people Must wake up and demand that our state and local leaders do more to punish those that would hurt a defenseless animal. I pray the Scum bags are caught very soon and the remaining dogs can be saved.
