Two men charged in Henderson slaying

Henderson, N.C. — Two 17-year-olds from Henderson have been charged in a shooting early last Saturday that killed a 19-year-old man and wounded a 16-year-old.
Police said they found the body of Dante Champion, 19, in Pearl Street, near Lone Street. The 16-year-old, who had been shot in the arm, was found at a different location and treated at a local hospital.
Antonio Townes, of 118 North St., was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was being held Friday without bond in the Vance County Jail.
Kyree Williams, 17, of 401 Spring Court in Henderson, was arrested Friday and charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder. He was being held under a $155,000 bond.
Williams was also charged as an absconder from parole. He was convicted of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon last September and sentenced to five years' probation, according to state Department of Correction records.
