Havelock, N.C. — The bodies of two Camp Lejeune Marines were found late Tuesday in a submerged car in a Craven County canal, according to authorities.
The names of the Marines haven't been released.
A U.S. Forestry Service officer found the car at about 10:30 p.m. in a canal along Catfish Lake Road, in the Croatan National Forest near the Craven-Jones county line. Other Marines had notified the officer earlier that they were looking for some missing friends.
Investigators said they believe speed may have been a factor in the wreck.
