WENDELL, N.C. — Two people were killed Saturday night in a single-car wreck on Corbin Road in Wendell, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Investigators said Tyler Ray Bartholomew, 20, of Wendell, and Randy Jernigan, 47, of Franklinton, were killed near Morphus Bridge Road around 9 p.m. when Bartholomew somehow lost control of his 1997 Ford Crown Victoria.

It appeared that he veered to the left of the road, then overcorrected, crossed the road to the right, which caused the car to flip, the Highway Patrol said.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, investigators said.
