Man charged in double homicide at Henderson motel

Henderson, N.C. — Police arrested a Henderson man Tuesday afternoon in connection with the shooting deaths of two people at the Scottish Inns motel earlier this month.

Edward Hawkins, 26, of 1664 Tripp St., was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and placed in the Vance County jail without bond.

Police say Hawkins shot Jerome Kearney, 33, and Kenya Odessa Hodges, 34, both of Henderson, at the motel, at 1759 N. Garnett St. Their bodies were found by officers around 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 16.

Police have said that Kearney and Hodges knew each other, but their relationship was not disclosed. It wasn't clear whether the victims knew Hawkins, however.

No other information, including a possible motive, has been released.

First step to cleaning up henderson is to donate these run down drug habitat hotels and motels to the fire department for training and burn them to the ground and dont rebuild them. They are nothing but a haven for drugs and murder.

Yeah kearney and hodges knew eachother. His aunt said that was the mother of his child last night on the news.

drugs, prostitution, gambling...all three things banned by our lawmakers. guess that didn't work out too good. and now they think gun control will work too. WRONG!
