CLINTON, N.C. — Two people were killed and three others were injured in a wreck in Sampson County Saturday afternoon.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Sunday that Adalberto Trejo Rodriguez, 37, of Burgaw, died after what appeared to be a T-bone collision with his 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe on U.S. Highway 421 near Union Elementary School in Clinton.

Four people in the Tahoe were taken to a local hospital, where one of them – 12-year-old Angeles Salazar, of Rose Hill – later died.

The Tahoe's driver, Kathleen Perez, 18, also of Rose Hill, was listed in critical condition Sunday.

Troopers are still investigating the wreck.
