— A Halifax County man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in a hit-and-run Monday evening that left two people dead.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Luke Henry Harvey, 45, was driving south on State Road 1357, near Littleton, around 10:55 p.m. when he hit Calvin Harris, 57, of Littleton, and Joycelyn Lynch, 37.

They had been walking along the road and were found in a ditch, authorities said.

Harvey also faces one count each of felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license. He was being held Tuesday in the Halifax County jail.

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow

This is very sad, and to think, he could of just not been driving. Ruin his life for good.

I'd rather it be a combine, in it's lowest gear, with flat tires.

He should be tied to a stake and run over with a tractor trailer.
