Two people died Sunday when a car crashed and caught fire in the North Hills area.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two people died early Sunday morning when a car crashed into a tree and caught fire in the North Hills area.

Before 3:15 a.m., crews responded to North Hills Drive and W. Millbrook Road.

A wreck report stated the car was speeding when it left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

The car was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived, and two victims were trapped inside. The driver, identified as Jacob Shawn Barrett, and the passenger, identified as Sarah Beth Dudley, were both killed.
