— Two Johnston County men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion that happened Sunday in the Coats Crossroads community west of Smithfield.

Johnston County sheriff's deputies arrested Kyle Anthonie Whiteside, 19, of Smithfield, and Kristopher Garrick Rubado, 21, of Selma, earlier this week and charged them with first-degree burglary, felony assault, common law robbery and felony conspiracy.

Deputies say Whiteside and Rubado broke into a home on Watson Road late Sunday, beat a man while he was sleeping and stole electronic items.

Whiteside is in the Johnston County jail under a $200,000 bond. Robado is being held under a $150,000 bond.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Ooffice is still searching for a third suspect in the robbery.

We have no kids at home, so our handguns stay loaded - polymer-tipped alternating with shotshell.

The new Castle Doctrine law gives citizens more legal standing to protect themselves against unlawful entry into their homes, workplaces and vehicles. It goes into effect Dec. 1, 2011.

The measure also would allow holders of concealed weapons permits to carry a pistol in a state park and prevents local governments from passing bans in the parks, with some exceptions.

It also makes clear legislators can store guns in their cars while parked at the Legislative Building if they are stored in a locked container.

Home invasions DEMAND harsher punishment from the courts!!!

Hopefully, those at home will be prepared to deliver instant justice.

Have two dogs, one weighs about 80 lbs the other about 12 lbs,it's the 12 pounder that wakes up the 80 pounder and by that time we are all up and waiting for our uninvited guest best alarm system I have ever had.

I agree, dog to alert the owner, and shotgun to do away with the perps!
