Two in custody after apparent fight in Raleigh

Posted March 7, 2013

— A man and a woman were taken into custody Thursday following an apparent fight in the 3700 block of Western Boulevard in Raleigh, police said.

Police said they received a shots fired call around 3:30 p.m., but when they arrived at the scene, they couldn't find a victim or weapon.

After canvassing the Carlton Avenue area, officers took two people into custody. They released no information on possible charges.

An employee at a nearby convenience store said he heard a fight and that one man was trying to rob another man. The fight moved down the street, and then, the store clerk said, he heard 4 or 5 gunshots.

No other information was released.

Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357, or report a tip at the Raleigh Crime Stoppers website, www.raleighcrimestoppers.org.

wonder how many duke parents would allow their kids to live in that aree if they knew what was around them? wonder how many carolina parents would allow their kids to live in that area? wonder how many ecu parents....you get the point.

At some point, parents have to let go and release their kids into the big bad world, dangerous neighborhoods and all. And plenty of people with their own children live in that area, yet alone college students....

wonder how many NC State parents would allow their kids to live in that area if they knew that neighborhood was right behind them.

Carlton Avenue off Western Blvd is known for "gang" activity and shootings. There is a Raleigh Housing project in the area also. Remember several months ago when a man was shot and killed on Neeley Street? Happens in every city.
