— Two Wake County school buses were involved in an accident on Wednesday morning in Wendell, school officials said.

The two buses were headed to East Wake High School around 6:40 a.m., according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Wendell Boulevard at Liles Dean Road when a bus making a left turn collided with the other.

Highway patrol identified the bus drivers as Casual Davidita Tabron and Lisa Carmelita Mclean. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials said the bus driven by Tabron did not yield at the intersection where the accident occurred. Tabron was charged with failing to yield right of way, troopers said.

The students on the bus were put on another bus and taken to school, officials said.

Wendell Boulevard is closed to traffic in both directions as crews work to clear the accident.
