2 dead following Hope Mills motorcycle crash

Two people died early Sunday in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Two people died early Sunday in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

Around 1:30 a.m., authorities responded to a crash on Elk Road. According to officials with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a motorcycle with two riders identified as Scott Farr, 43, from Fayetteville, and Candee Sommer, 43, from Fayetteville, was heading east on Elk Road when westbound driver Fernandez Buenaventura, 50, crossed his lane and hit the motorcycle head on. 

Both Farr and Sommer died in the crash.

Buenaventura sustained minor injuries in the wreck. According to State Highway Patrol, charges against him are pending.
