CARY, N.C. — Two children sustained minor injuries Wednesday when a YMCA activity bus they were riding in crashed in Cary, officials said.

A town spokeswoman said the bus driver was trying to turn left from Evans Road onto Cary Parkway shortly after 1:30 p.m. when the driver lost control, crossed the median and stopped on the opposite side of the roadway.

The full-size bus was carrying 20 children from West Cary Middle School. Two were taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver had minor cuts, the spokeswoman said.

No lanes were closed, but traffic was delayed and motorists slowed to look at the bus, which came to rest on the grass, perpendicular to the roadway.

Another bus was dispatched to take the children back to West Cary Middle School.
